Roger Toliver was 47 when he had a severe heart attack. For years, cardiologists at the Providence Heart Institute managed his damaged heart, until he needed more than medication to keep him going.

Luckily for Roger, Jacob Abraham, MD, medical director of the Center for Advanced Heart Disease, oversaw Roger’s LVAD (left ventricular assist device) procedure to help his damaged heart circulate oxygenated blood. Dr. Abraham cared for Roger until he received his heart transplant in 2018.

Today, Roger is back to hunting and fishing and is thankful to have a team of dedicated Providence doctors that were with him for every step of his journey. “It’s really great to have a new heart and a team like this to care for me.”
